The next day at breakfast in the Great Hall, the day after
Ron's confrontation with Draco, an owl arrived for Ron.
"Ron, don't open it! It could be from Malfoy." warned
Hermione.
"Hermione, it's just a letter. What could he possibly do?
Even though, I doubt it's from him." Ron protested. He
opened the letter and showed it to Harry and Hermione.
"Look! It's just a letter. No curses or anything." He
read it out loud,
"'Dear Ron,
Hey, it's Ginny. I was wondering if you could meet me
outside the Trophy Room tonight at nine. If you could,
that'd be great! I need help with this thing, and I think
you'd know what to do.
Signed,
Ginny Weasley'
See? It's just a letter from Ginny! What could possibly
happen? I don't know why she sent an owl, though. And at
nine? But whatever."
"Wait, there's a post script:
'P.S. Please don't say anything about this to me. I don't
want anyone overhearing. Also, just send your reply with
the owl. He'll deliver it to me! Thank you, Ron!'
Ron, don't you think that's a little suspicious? Even just
a little?" Hermione sounded worried.
"No. She's just ashamed! She's probably got a thing
for Harry again. But if it's that little git Michael
Corner..." Ron rambled on and on about Corner, "Anyway,
classes start soon. I'll just write the reply now," He
turned the piece of parchment over,
"'Ginny,
I'll be there.' Hey, to make you guys feel better, you can
come. 'Can Harry and Hermione come?
Thanks,
Ron' See? It's fine." He gave the letter to the owl, who
was nibbling on Ron's toast, and the owl flew off. They
went to History of Magic, their first class, where they got
a reply. It was a hot day, so the windows were all open.
The owl flew in, dropped the letter, and flew out.
"I guess it doesn't need a reply." mumbled Harry as Ron
opened the bit of now-over-used parchment.
"'Ron,
Don't let Harry and Hermione come! It's personal. Just
you, okay?
Love,
Ginny'
Well, okay, then. I guess you guys can't come."
"Ron, I think we should." said Harry protectively.
"Harry, come on, it's not a big deal. Ginny says it's
personal, so you guys can't come. I'll just be there for a
little bit. Be right back. You guys can wait for me in
the common room. I'll leave at nine, be back at nine-
thirty. Just drop it!" Ron was in a rage now, so they
dropped it.
At five minutes to nine that night, Harry ran up their
dormitory and grabbed the Invisibility Cloak for Ron. Ron
slipped it on and left the common room.
At a quarter of nine, Harry said, "Ron should be back
soon." At twenty minutes past, he fell asleep. Hermione
watched him, and, without realizing it, fell asleep.
Six hours later, Hermione woke up and woke Harry, too.
"Harry, it's three-thirty! Ron's not back yet!" she said,
in a panic.
"Hermione, cool it. He probably went upstairs because he
didn't want to wake us. Let's just go to bed. See you in
the morning." Harry said, trying to calm her down.
"Your right. I love you, g'night." And with that, she went
up the spiral staircase and dropped right into her bed
because she was so tired.
"Love you too." Harry said and headed up to the boys'
dormitory. The curtains on Ron's four poster were drawn,
so he guessed he was there. Harry chenged into his pajamas
